JAMB Change of Course/Institution/Data Has Begun

JAMB

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has begun correction of biodata (such as names, date of birth, gender, e.t.c.), course, and institutions for 2025/2026 academic section.

If you've made mistakes while registering for JAMB or creating your profile, now is time to correct the errors. This article will guide you through all the processes of correcting your mistakes. Let's dive into it.

JAMB's Change of Course, Data, and Institution

Here is the list of information you can correct on the JAMB portal:

  • NAMES: If you names are typed or spelled wrongly during profile creation, you can rectify it on the JAMB portal. You can simply make changes to your Surname, First Name, and Middle Name. However, it's important to note that once you make any changes to your Name, it cannot be undone and the change is only available once.
  • DATE OF BIRTH: Date of Birth (DoB) can also be corrected on JAMB portal. This correction also can happen once and once you've corrected your DoB once, it can never be undone and no further changes can be made.
  • GENDER: Gender is another Bio-data that's available for change on the JAMB portal. Like the others, changing your gender on the portal can only be done once. However, to change your gender on JAMB portal, you may be required to submit documents, like Birth Certificate, or Court Affidavit, to back it up.
  • PASSPORT: If you uploaded the wrong passport photograph of yourself or you feel like you want to change the profile picture to better one, you can also do that on JAMB portal but only once.
  • LOCAL GOVT/STATE: For candidates whose state of origin or local government area was wrongly filled during registration, you can still correct it on the JAMB portal. However, some document like state or origin certificate may be required as proof.

Change of Course and Institution

Candidates change their course or institution on JAMB portal primarily to align their choices with their academic performance, admission prospects, or personal preferences. These means that after receiving their UTME results, some candidates may find their scores not enough for their desire courses like Medicine or institutions like top-tier universities.

These can prompt a change of course or institution to less competitive options to increase their admission chances. Others may change their course or institution due to financial constraints. They'll opt-in to institutions or courses with lower fees or those closer to home.

Additionally, shifts in career interests, parental influence, or updated admission criteria, such as catchment area policies, can drive candidates to adjust their choices to better suit their circumstances or improve their likelihood of securing admission.

However, it's important to note that while changing of course or institution is flexible on JAMB portal, and that you can change it more than one time, you'll need to pay a certain fee for each changes.

So, how much does it cost to change course or institution on JAMB portal? The point is that the correction fee is not applicable to change of course or institution only. For each correction (including change of course, institutions, name, DOB, gender, state, LGA, and course) will cost you N2,500 (two thousand five hundred Naira).

However, if you process it at a JAMB-accredited CBT centre, an additional service fee of N700 may be charged, bringing the total to N3,200. This fee may also includes the CBT centre service charge. In total, be budgeting ₦3,500 for any changes you want to make on your JAMB portal.

How to Correct Your Bio-data on JAMB

Follow these steps to correct any errors or change of course/institution on JAMB portal by yourself:

  • Visit the JAMB eFacility portal via efacility.jamb.gov.ng on your device's browser.
  • Sign-in to your JAMB portal using your registered email address and password.
  • On your portal, click on REGISTRATION (2025 ONLY).
  • Select 2025 UTME Data Correction or 2025 DE Data Correction for Direct Entry (DE) Candidates.
  • Make the required payment online using your debit card or direct bank transfer.
  • After successful payment, visit nearest JAMB office or an accredited CBT centre to complete the process. You'll need to verify your access to change on your portal using your Fingerprint/Thumb. This is why visiting JAMB accredited centre or office is essential.
  • However, if you don't want to make any more mistakes, you can visit JAMB office or accredited centre directly to carry out all the processes.

However, it's important to note that the process is a bit different for candidates who created their JAMB profile before 2025.

For Registrations That Occurred Before 2025

For candidates who created their JAMB profile before 2025 registration, the procedure for correcting their details differs slightly. Access the JAMB eFacility portal, navigate to the Data Correction Application (2024 and Earlier) section, and select the specific information you wish to modify, such as course, institution, name, or date of birth. Depending on the correction, you may need to visit a JAMB-accredited office or CBT center to finalize the process as I explained earlier.
