The National Examinations Council (NECO) has announced that it'll conduct the upcoming National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE), essential for primary 6 pupils seeking admission into Junior Secondary School (JSS1) in the Federal Government Unity Colleges, across Nigeria on Saturday, 14th of June, 2025.
There are 110 Unity Colleges owned and operated by the Federal Government of Nigeria. The NCEE is part of the requirements to enter into any of these Colleges. The Exam is annually conducted by NECO, and as usual, the exam will be conducted at various designated centres nationwide for candidates who finished primary school in the 2024/2025 academic year.
However, it's important to note that candidates that are allowed to sit for the common entrance exams are ranged from age 10 to 13 years. Subjects that will be written includes Basic Science, Social Studies, English Language, Mathematics, and Quantitative and Verbal Reasoning. Students who pass in these subjects will qualify for JSS1 class in any of the Federal Unity Colleges for the 2025/2026 academic year.

NECO is the commission responsible for administering major examinations in Nigeria. These exams includea the NCEE we are talking about, the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), and the Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE). However, the 110 Federal Unity Colleges present in Nigeria are under the Federal Ministry of Education.
