How to Apply for FUTA Postgraduate Admission Form 2025/2026

The Federal University of Technology (FUTA) has opened admission into post-graduation programmes for 2025/2026 academic section. Interested candidates are advised to begin their application now. Programmes available for FUTA post-graduation include PGD, Master's, M.Phil., and Ph.D.

Programmes and Requirements

Programme Admission Requirements Duration
Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) You'll need a first degree with at least Third Class, or HND with Lower Credit, or Recognised professional qualifications (e.g., ACA, ACCA) for Computer Science only. The full-time programme runs for 24 months.
The part-time runs for 36 months.
Master’s (M.Tech, M.Eng., M.Sc., etc.) You'll need a Bachelor’s degree with at least Second Class Lower in a relevant discipline. Or provide an HND (Lower Credit) plus a Postgraduate Diploma (Upper Credit) in a related course.
For Engineering courses, PGD must have a minimum CGPA of 3.0.
These programmes are full-time courses and they're run for 24 months.
M.Phil. You must have a Good Master’s degree (M.Tech. or equivalent) in the chosen field. M.Phil programme is often runs for 24 months, and it can be possibly upgraded to Ph.D. if the imposed conditions are met.
Ph.D. You'll need a Master’s degree with at least 3.50 CGPA or 60% average to further your career to Ph.D. Otherwise, equivalent qualifications approved by FUTA’s Senate will be demanded.
Ph.D programme in FUTA is a full-time programme. Depending on the field you are, it usually runs from 36 months to 48 months.
The part-time programme runs from 48 months to 60 months.

However, it's important to note that your O’Level results are no longer required for postgraduate admission at the Federal University of Technology, Akure.

How to Apply

The application processes are slightly different from one another especially for non-FUTA applicants. But don't worry, we compiled this article to guide you through the complex application processes.

The application fee for all postgraduate programmes—Ph.D., Master’s, and PGD—is ₦20,000 each for both FUTA applicants and non-FUTA applicants. To make payment, you'll need to visit the school official website at https://www.futa.edu.ng, and make your payment via REMITA to the School of Postgraduate Studies.

Ph.D. applicants are required to submit their research proposals via email to spgsadmissions@futa.edu.ng. Please ensure the document is named using the following format: Surname_School/Department.doc (for example, Ojo_sos/che.researchproposal).

For applicants who did not graduate from FUTA (i.e. Non-FUTA applicants), you're required to print the Transcript Label provided on your application form and request your former institution to forward your academic transcript directly to:

The Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies, ATTN: Department of [your course], Federal University of Technology, P.M.B. 704, Akure, Ondo State, Nigeria. Kindly note that transcripts submitted without the printed label will not be processed.

It's also important to note that all the payments made through these applications processes are not refundable. This is why you need to fact all documents well before your make any payments. Also ensure that you meet all the requirements for the programme you want to enroll to.

Application Deadline

The application process began on Monday, 16 June 2025, and while the deadline has not yet been announced, prospective applicants are strongly advised to complete their submissions as early as possible to avoid any last-minute issues.
